First Day of School Recap

So Mason started school today. Robert picked him up, and I didn't get alot. The teachers said he was good and very quiet and didn't cry. He mostly observed for the day. He did eat most of his lunch which is GREAT for him and told us he took a nap. Other than that I didn't get much out of Mason. I am hoping as the days move on I can get him to talk about it more.

On a wonderful side note - NO ACCIDENTS!! He came home in the shorts I sent him in. So he either didn't drink anything all day or actually used the potty. I was a very proud mama :)

Zilker Fun

Last Sunday, we adventured to Zilker park. We have never taken the kids there, so this trip was overdue.

I see the bird-I will get the bird....

I am so ready to ride this train!

Umm, mom?? Why are we on this thing?
~Autumn did enjoy the train once it started :)

Don't look at me. Focus on that hilarious face my girl is making.

Afterwards we stopped for lunch and headed home. Mason fell asleep in the car and transferred to his bed! That doesn't happen often at all. Of course, Autumn didn't want to go down....

Water Table Play

Yesterday the kids thought it would be fun to crawl into the water table. In their defense, it was hot.

First Day of School!

Mason's first day of school! Mason was very excited this morning. He was quick to get ready and after dressing, teeth and hair brushing we were ready. Mason carried his lunch box (he calls it his back pack) all by himself. On the ride over he kept saying "whats wrong?" and I kept telling him nothing-do you know where we are going? Mason would say "school!" He went right in the door and the teacher showed him where to put all his items and after a quick kiss mommy left. Mason waved bye in the window and shed not one tear! He was very excited to start on his "work."

I can't wait to pick him up later and see how his first day went!!

Getting ready for School

Mason starts his new school Thursday, so last night we did a little school supplies shopping. Mason was very excited and kept saying "we buying school supplies!" Mason picked out his rubber boots for the garden and insisted he wear them that minute. So my son spent the next 20 minutes at Academy chasing his little sister around wearing his rubber boats! I am sure I got some looks but they didn't touch anything and their laughs were priceless :)
We also picked up some things for our upcoming vacation. We had to puch our vacation to August due to schedules, but we are very excited to be able to take a vacation this year. It's been too long!

A "not so great" moment

Ok, so the majority of the time I write about all the great things my kids do. I have been thinking lately I should capture some of the "not so great" moments too. My kids are far from perfect, why should my blog not reflect this too?

Mason loves Autumn. I do know this and I see it. I do, however, see the moments where he does not show her much love. Today, for instance, he resorted to his pushing her just for fun and saying I'm sorry right away. He has learned that if he pushed her down he has to say he is sorry. He has this part down. We do our normal routine (apologize and timeout) and then he is nice for awhile. Later he does it again. Not always the same day, but he does end up pushing her again somewhere down the road. You get my drift.

Robert told me the other day that Autumn is starting to mimic Mason. I saw it today. She hit him and then automatically gave him a kiss. Autumn is still at that stage where she thinks all this is funny, so when I tried to teach her the right thing, she just laughed.

Two minutes later, they are chasing each other around the house and laughing up a storm. Just like that they are back to playing nicely.

Mom was tempted to bust out the gentlemens jack. I refrained.

Lake Time

Yesterday, we spent the day at the lake. We did the normal routine, drove the boat fast and did a little swimming in the water. The reason for this blog is I want to write down how well Mason did with his swimming and how well Autumn did. Mason did so well swimming he would swim between Robert and me over and over. He is now jumping right into the lake-no fear! He does so well on the boat and I am so proud of him. He also sat on Roberts lap and made Robert drive fast and Mason helped steer. In another big milestone ~ He did his first "manly" restroom break. You can read into that what you want :)

Autumn is coming into her own. She is not afraid of the boat or water and she herself kept trying to get into the water. Who cares if mom and dad were not ready!?! She is ready to be done with the infant vest, but she is too small for the child vest so this summer she will have to deal. In the water, she can't swim on her own (that infant vest is not easy to maneuver) but she does like to be held up and swim with you. A few times she did have to float on her back so mom or dad could adjust, but she just chilled until we were ready. She is not scared of the waves or anything. When the boat went fast she would sit next to me and just smile.

We are so proud of the kids and look forward to many more lake time adventures!

Off to the movies

Robert suggested I take Mason to the movies, just the two of us. So, on Friday Mason and I went to see Cars 2 while Robert and Autumn stayed home. Mason was a very good big boy. We got to the theatre, got our snacks and into the movie we went. We did have to sneak out for a quick bathroom break, but Mason sat the entire time and watched the movie. It was so nice to just hang out with him and for me to pay him all sorts of attention. Robert was right-Mason and I did need a little outting for us.

Adventures at Grandma's House

Some pictures to capture the kids weekend at Grandma's house:

Even Autumn got to try a ride at Chuck e Cheese

According to grandma, Papa and Mason rode many rides together.

Swim Lessons 2011

We recently did swim lessons for the kiddos. This was Year One for Autumn and Year Three for Mason. Mason is a pro at this class. By the end he was wading water by himself. He will even swim around with a noodle tied around his waist. Next year I might have to push for the preschool class.
Autumn did super too! She did not mind floating on her belly and going underwater was nothing. By the end of the class she was kicking, moving her arms and even attempting bubbles. Sadly I do not have near enough pictures as both Robert and I had to be in the water, but on the last week I jumped out to snap a few pics of Autumn.
I do love summer and swim lessons! Everyone knows I am a stickler for this lesson. I have to make sure my kids will love the water (or at least be comfortable around it) so we can enjoy our boat for years to come.

We did it!

To Grandma's House We Go

This past weekend, the kids went to Grandma Melva's house. Mason was super excited all week. Every morning he would tell me "I'm going to grandmas today!" We had to count by naps ~ Three more naps and then grandmas house, etc. Finally on Friday it was time to pack the bag. Mason was very helpful, he would run in his room and tell me what he needed, I would hand it to him and he would go and put it in the bag.
Grandma arrived and we got the kids loaded up and off. They started with a stop at Chick fil a in Georgetown, where the ate ice cream and played in the park. Thats where grandma learned Autumn can get all the way to the top all by herself. Autumn and grandma shared a bed, and grandma was surprised at 5 am when Autumn got off the bed and woke her up.
On Saturday, they spent several hours at Chuck e Cheese playing and on Saturday evening took a spin in the hot tub. Grandma didn't realize mom had packed swim diapers in the bag. They got a kick out of how big Autumns regular diaper got.
On Sunday they headed back and arrived just after lunch. I think the kids had a great time ~ I know grandma was exhausted!
Mom and dad had a nice weekend just spending time together. We love our kids dearly, but sometimes its just nice to have that time :)
