Easter Weekend

We had a fun easter weekend. On Saturday afternoon, we headed to Lee's house so Mason and Lee could play. It just so happens that Lee's grandparents were in town so we got to visit with them for a bit. It was a great visit and the kiddos played hard all afternoon.
Saturday night, Mason helped mommy put out the baskets for the Easter bunny to fill. We left them on the coffee table so the Easter bunny could easily find them. When Mason woke up Sunday morning, mommy pointed out the Easter bunny came and Mason went straight to his basket to check out his goodies! Autumn also checked out her basket with the help of daddy.
After baskets, we got ready and headed to church. We joined Robert's mom at Immanuel Lutheran for their family service. The pastor (Pastor Tom) uses an "aid" to tell the story of Easter to all the kiddos. His aid is a pelican named Peli, of course! Peli told the kids all about his Easter goodies which included chocolate covered fish eyeballs. He even brought some to share. Pastor Tom looks in the basket and says "These are M&M's!" Peli's response? "Yeah, Maui-Maui!" Ha! The rest of the service went nicely and even Autumn was in a good mood. Of course, daddy was feeding her a snack - goldfish!
After the service, we went back to Sherry's house for some yummy ham and fixings. There was plenty of food and we brought home lots of leftovers. Mason, Autumn and Grandma played outside and grandma decided to "hide eggs" and let Mason have an Easter egg hunt in her backyard. Mason starts picking up the eggs, opening them, and dropping them back on the ground saying "no candy." He already got all the candy out of them but he still wanted more!
We finally headed home when we spent the rest of the evening doing stuff around the house. Robert mowed the backyard and Mason had to help, as always. They both (Robert and Mason) had taken off their t-shirts and I so wanted to get a picture of that....maybe next time!

Mason and his Easter basket. Can you see he already got to the candy??

A complete sidenote, but this is the church we were married in. All together now...awh :)

Egg-Stravaganza!!

As our neighborhood egg hunt was not very successful, we decided to attempt our city Easter egg hunt. I was pleasantly surprised at how organized and prepared the planners were of this event. We made it just in time for Mason's age group, and there were plenty of eggs for everyone.
After the egg hunt, we started to walk around the park and who did we see?? Why, the Easter Bunny of course! For the rest of the time we were there, Mason would ask us to go see the bunny. He even gave it a high-five!

Robert saw the mini ponies and asked Mason if he wanted to ride them. Mason seemed to enjoy, but my kid prefers fast and high rides. After the pony ride he saw a bungee trampoline (which he has done in the past) and pulled Robert to it. The gentlemen would not let Mason on it being as he does not weight 40 lbs. Personally, I don't think the guy knew what he was talking about, but that's neither her nor there.
Again, Miss Autumn watched all from her stroller. I looked for something she could do and came up empty handed. Next year for sure!
Since Mason could not do the bungee ride, we let him do the huge moonwalk contraption. Well, actually there were two but on the second one he did not want to come down the slide. After what seemed like forever (but was probably only 10 minutes) he went down the slide. This picture shows the slide he went down without a hitch. The other slide was much taller and steeper, so I could see why he was a little nervous.
Strangely, mason didn't really want to try any of the carnival games (there were a good 20 games surrounding us). Instead, he made his way to the park where we spent the last 30 minutes letting him play and swinging with Autumn. Mom saw a kid do this and convinced mason to give it a try. So cute :)
After all this fun it was way past our dinner so we headed to the local Mexican place to have some grub. Both kids ate like champions (maybe we should do this more often??). As we were walking back to our truck, the party was still in progress and Mason started pointing at it and saying he wanted to go back.

Next year, kid, next year.

Neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt

We went to our neighborhood Easter egg hunt today. It was from 4-6. We got there at 4:05 and missed the egg hunt for Mason's group. We did find a few dropped eggs for his basket. The moonwalk was too crowded for Mason so we tried out the face painting instead. He did really well, stayed nice and still.
Next year, we might try something else....
Mason had his first face painting-on his hand. This was the only pic I could get and its hard to tell but its a car.

Mason attempting the egg spoon race. He didn't really want to finish it-I just don't think it was his thing.

Bless Autumn. She stayed in the stroller the whole time and mom decided to appease her with a few goldfish. Well, the whole bag but who's counting??
