Military Museum

I took the kids to my folks house Saturday. My dad really wanted to take Mason to the outdoor military museum on post, so off we went. There were lots of tanks, trucks, helicopters and misc military equipment to make any boy happy. Mason enjoyed this place very much, and kept dragging papa and grandma around to see all the cool stuff. During our outting, a ladybug landed on Autumn, which was cool as she was wearing a ladybug outfit and grandma bought her a ladybug hat. Crazy!
Mason also discovered that Sarge and Tow-Mater were at this museum as well. Grandma got a kick out of Mason pointing them out :)
We ate lunch afterwards and hit up Toys-R-Us, then we went back to the house where Mason played hard until we headed home.

Autumn in her cute ladybug hat, which matches her outfit! This was not planned.

There was a ladybug on Autumn, near grandma's finger.

Now the ladybug is on Autumn's finger.

It's Tow-Mater!!

It's Sarge!

I love my popcycle!

I just had to post this picture. Autumn was fussy yesterday so I thought a little cold might help her. I think she is finally teething! That girl did not need my help in getting the popcycle out of the wrapper. When I tried to help her she had a fit. Her reaction was quite funny.
She did finish this thing without any help and seemed to enjoy it.

Big Girl Table

Autumn is now enjoying her dinner outside at the big girl table. She loves to sit at this table with Mason and eat. Its actually quite cute to watch them together. Also, the kids love outside so we get some peaceful meals (for the most part). I love these pictures of her. I know the second one she has her eyes closed but she was so happy she was giving me a smile :)

Sand Covered Baby

Mason decided it would be fun to cover Autumn with sand. Yeah, she thought it was funny at first, then she was done with Mason and the sandbox. Her focus turned to the dump truck which she used as a walker in our yard.

My Little Bunnies

We went to the dollar store yesterday so I could get some crafts for Mason's project. They didn't have what I wanted but they did have these cute bunny ears! I am excited Easter is just around the corner!

Mason and the "man's man" theory

This weekend was a very busy weekend in our house. Robert had his friend Robert in town. Yes, two Robert's, so as not to confuse I call his friend Mendez. Mendez and his dad, Frank, stayed at our house this weekend. After Robert worked on Saturday, they went to the lake to do some fishing. While they were waiting for Robert to get off, Mendez thought he would take a nap. Hmmm, Mendez does not know Mason very well.

At the rodeo, we found our good friend DJ so we could say hi. Mason went right to him, as he usually does.

Why am I blogging about this? It supports my theory that Mason is a "man's man" and loves to be with the big boys. He went right to both of Robert's good friends and was having a ball-I think this is a case closed :)

Mendez thinks he is going to get a nap...

Austin Rodeo

On Saturday, I took the kids to the Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo. My good friend Lauren came with us, and mama was very glad to have the extra set of hands and eyes. Wow this place sure has a lot to do! We explored the stockyards where we saw these huge horses and cattle. We went into the BBQ cookoff area and checked out some BBQ grub. We went over to all the rides and Mason rode his first roller coaster! It was actually pretty fast so Lauren could not get a picture of us in it, but it was a dragon roller coaster and Mason loved it. I thought he would be scared but nope! After that he tried the ladybug, the train and at the end of the day the merry-go-round. We will have to check out the dollar ride nights because my kid loves the rides.
We had to take a break during the day because Autumn really wanted out of the stroller, so we got some typical fair junk food and found a grassy area so she could get out and roam. Autumn actually stayed right next to us, it was Mason that was still roaming.
Later that day, we finally found our buddy DJ. After saying a quick hello we needed to take off. The kids were super tired (as was mom) and we had a little hike in store.
I think we will be doing this again in the future!

I do not know what kind of horses these were, but they were BIG!

Our buddy Lauren!

Watching the animals run around the yard. Yeah, we didn't stay here long :)

Miss Autumn spent much of her day in the stroller. She was ready to get out and explore too! Next year, my dear, next year.

We stopped at the BBQ cookoff to get some grub.

Mason rode this ladybug - it was his first ride by himself1 He loved it!

After the fast dragon roller coaster and the ladybug, the train was a little slow for Mason.

This merry-go-round was fast! Mason really liked this one too.

East Texas Adventures

This past weekend we made the journey to Lufkin to visit Mam-maw for her 102nd birthday party. The kids did really well on the drive there and we made it to the hotel just after midnight. The next morning, we went over to Mam-maw and John's house and the kids visited with Mam-maw for a bit. We decided to take the kids to a local park so they could burn some energy and get ready for another car ride. They had Mam-maw's party in Carthage, which is about an hour north of Lufkin. At the party, there were some fun riding toys that kept Mason busy the entire time we were there. Roberts cousin Heidi has twin boys about 6 months old, so the boys and Autumn played some in the house. We spent a few hours visiting and headed back to Lufkin around 6 or so. On the way back Robert was craving crawfish, but we didn't know any crawfish places so he settled on catfish. John met us at the restaurant. By the time that was all said and done it was 8pm and we were plum tired! We went back to the hotel and the kids crashed. The next morning, we headed back to Mam-maw's house to visit a little more before we left town. Mason discovered lots of fun things to play with in the old workshop. It's funny how a kid can hone in on certain things. After a quick lunch with them, we knew the kids were so tired so we headed back home. The kids almost slept the entire way home. Its over a 4 hour drive so you know they were tired!

It was a long weekend and we are still recovering today, but overall it was great the kids got to see Mam-maw and celebrate another birthday with her.
